English Abstract: Exploration of the attitude of the Russians towards entrepreneurship. The importance and the influence of the cultural background, the religious sentiments, the role of the Church and the political system are commented in light of some recent research on the issue. We argue that the negative attitude, when present, is a result of the detrimental social impact of the post-Soviet era of aggressive economic restructuring and of the plethora of negative news in the relations with private entrepreneurs, rather then of some imbedded social patterns that would be unique for Russian society. We argue that during its long history, Russia was, in fact, a highly entrepreneurial society. Russian Abstract: Исследование отношения россиян к предпринимательству. Важность и влияние культурных и религиозных традиций, роль Церкви и политической системы, комментируются в свете некоторых недавних исследованиях по этому вопросу. Мы утверждаем, что преобладающее в обществе отрицательное отношение к предпринимательству является в большей степени результатом неблагоприятных социальных последствий пост-советской эпохи, агрессивной реструктуризации экономики и негативной практики в отношениях с частными предпринимателями, нежели устоявшейся социальной моделью, уникальной для русского общества. Мы утверждаем, что за свою долгую историю, Россия была, по сути, весьма предпринимательским обществом.
