Resumo

This paper presents a study on marine fossil diatoms (Chrysophyta-Bacillariophyceae) of Luis Piedrabuena, Province of Santa Cruz, Argentine, considering the distribution of the species in three samples of one profile and the frecuency in this along the profile. 19 taxa of the Monte LeOn Formation (Oligocene) were indentified; there are four new species at fossil state for Argentine: Glyphodiscus stellaris Greville, Rhaphoneis amphiceros Ehrenberg, Rhaphoneis angularis Lohman and Trigonium condecorum Ehrenberg. This formation is constituted by three different tufaceous levels.
