ResumoIntroduction The dangers of drug interactions resuhing from the simuUaneous administration of potent therapeutic substances have been increasingly reahzed in recent years. It has also been shown that drug interactions may prove favourable as well as unfavourable. Although this paper is concerned with interactions occurring with Anafranil, most of the remarks made relate to the tricyclic anti depressants in general since experience with Anafranil has been fairly limited in this area. As Stockley (1972b) has pointed out 'most of the interactions described between the tri cyclics and other drugs have been observed with imipramine and amitriptyline and may not necessarily occur with other tricyclic anti-depressants. However, unless there is good evidence to the contrary, it would be wise to view all interactions described as probably occurring with all tricyclics'. Three important types of interactions must be considered.
