ResumoSince 1947 Robinson coined the Piriformis syndrome term, but the fi rst description is ascribed to Yeoman in 1928; it is a controverter syndrome because it may be confused with radicular compression by herniated disc and/or facet syndrome; the problems is located on sciatic nerve in its pelvic passage and the diagnosis must be done by exclusion. We present the case of a patient sent to rehabilitation by neurology service, with L5 radicular compression by herniated disc, but our exploration showed a piriformis syndrome, making the etiologic diagnostic in a fortuitous way.
