Resumo

This paper attempts to illustrate a possibility of integrating Mathematics with Children’s Literature. We start by presenting principles of a constructivist philosophy to teach mathematics. Being valid for any level, they should apply to this particular age as well. Then we state principles guiding the use of Children’s Literature in preschool. In the following section, we choose a story with special interest for the development of literacy competences. This story is used as a starting point for the design of activities mathematically rich and abiding to the principles of the constructivist approach presented.
