ResumoTietze's syndrome consists of an initially painful, usually tender prominence of one or more of the upper costal cartilages for which no specific etiology can be found. Biopsy usually shows normal cartilage. The clinical course is benign but may be prolonged. A case of this syndrome is presented and the findings in 159 cases from the literature are analyzed, with emphasis on the biopsied cases.
