Ampliação na distribuição de Artibeus obscurus (Schinz, 1821) no Centro- Oeste do Brasil

ResumoExpansion in the geographical distribution of Artibeus obscurus (Schinz, 1821) in Middle-West of Brazil. The dark fruit-eating bat Artibeus obscurus (Schinz, 1821) occurs from the Guianas to central and southern Brazil including countries west of South America like Bolivia Peru and Ecuador. Until then its occurrence in Brazilian territory was limited to the states of Amapa, Para, Rondonia, Amazonas, Piaui, Ceara, Bahia, Rio de Janeiro, Espirito Santo, Sao Paulo, Parana, Santa Catarina and Mato Grosso. This study reports the occurrence of A. obscurus in the southern edge of the Brazilian Pantanal and to the northern boundary of the Paraguayan Chaco, bringing to four the number of species of the genus recorded for the Mato Grosso do Sul. This occurrence suggests that the species has a good adaptive capacity, distributing in different biomes
