Resumo

In the period 1945-1957, the Editora Globo published 21 issues of the journal Província de São Pedro. The periodic directed by Moysés Vellinho (1902-1980) was composed of texts that privilege sociology, history, and especially literature. Among its collaborators, there were names like Guilhermino Cesar, Augusto Meyer, Vianna Moog, Dyonélio Machado, Erico Verissimo, Mario Quintana, Cecilia Meireles, Manuel Bandeira, Otto Maria Carpeaux, Antonio Candido and others. The writer and psychoanalyst Cyro Martins (1908-1995) is also one of those collaborators and is the intellectual trail left by him that this work pursues. Cyro has active and passive participation in the Província: in the first case, he is the author of fictional or critical texts, in the second, his literary work is noted. The Cyro Martins traces’ recovery in the Província de São Pedro assists in refigure the intellectual journey of an individual that was inserted in different ways in the cultural system of Rio Grande do Sul in the first half of the twentieth century. Only with the traces present in the Província, it is possible to grasp that Cyro had a varied action, as he played in the same journal the role of novelist and literary critic – in addition to its production discussed or mentioned in a significant number of texts.
