O artigo analisa as determinacoes do Estatuto de Defesa do Torcedor (EDT) sobre violencia e seguranca, a fi m de compreender quais sentidos os torcedores mineiros atribuem a tais aspectos na assistencia ao futebol no estadio Mineirao. Para tanto, foram analisados: artigos do EDT que se referem a seguranca e ao controle de atos violentos; entrevistas com torcedores no Campeonato Brasileiro de 2007, em Belo Horizonte (MG); alem de se buscar um dialogo entre os discursos dos torcedores e as fontes ofi ciais relativas a ocorrencias, audiencias e atendimentos medicos nesse estadio. O EDT preve mecanismos para fornecer seguranca ao torcedor. Contudo, a sensacao de seguranca deste, durante a competicao, nao foi plena, contrariando os dados oficiais relativos a violencia e a seguranca nesse estadio. The “Estatuto de Defesa do Torcedor” determinations about the violence matter: the rooter ’s safety during the sporting spectacle The article analyses the “Estatuto de Defesa do Consumidor” (EDT) determinations about violence and safety to comprehend which signifi cance the rooters from Minas Gerais attribute to these two aspects in the supporting of football at Mineirao stadium. Thus it was analysed: articles from the EDT about violence and the management of violent acts, interviews with rooters in the 2007 Brazilian Football Championship in Belo Horizonte (MG), and the attempt to search for a dialogue between the rooters’ discourse and the offi cial sources concerning to police and medical cases in this stadium. The EDT foresees mechanisms to provide safety to the rooters. Nevertheless, the rooters didn’t feel completely safety during the competition what contradicted the offi cial data concerning to violence and safety in this stadium.
