ResumoThe present study aimed to analyze the knowledgerelated to dance and esthetics produced by quilombolaswomen from the community of macapazinho,in Santa Izabel,a small town located in northern State of Para, Brazil. It hasbeen investigated how these knowledges might support thelocal community development. It has been done a fieldresearch, based on an exploratory level, qualitativeapproach. The research used observation and applied semistructuredinterviews as techniques in order to collectqualitative data with 15 quilombolas women, age rangingfrom 18 to 65 years old. The results revealed that thesewomen dance and esthetics are transmitted from generationto generation although it has undergone alteration whichwas influenced by society development and also by thecontact with other forms of expression and culturalmanifestation. It has been concluded that these womenknowledge has fostered the local economic and culturaldevelopment.Key-words - Quilombolas women, Culture, Knowledge,Women, Development
