ResumoObjectives: To identify problems related to drug administration in nursing activities, and to describe the ethical and legal responsibility of nurses in drug administration. Methods: A descriptive, exploratory study with a qualitative, bibliographic approach, performed in the VHL (Virtual Health Library), in databases (BDENF), and REUOL and REPEF electronic journals. Results: Two categories emerged, causes of the problems related to the administration of medication, post-conduct and minimization strategies and ethical and legal responsibility of nurses in drug administration. Conclusion: We conclude that no practicing professional is free of errors and one of the main responsibilities of the nursing staff and and the nurse's medication administration, which should be developed with great responsibility and knowledge of professional code of ethics, is not to engage in a activity that can generate an act of negligence, recklessness or malpractice. Descriptors: Medication errors, Medication systems, Ethics; Nurses.
