Resumo

This work was aimed at evaluating the water use efficiency in the sunflower oil production under water deficit conditions. The experiment was conducted at the Perímetro Irrigado Tabuleiros de Russas, located in Vale Baixo do Jaguaribe. The experimental design was that of randomized blocks, with four treatments and four replications. Experimental treatments were arranged as follows: no water deficit (SS), water deficit starting at 35 days after planting (S35), water deficit starting at 50 days after planting (S50) and water deficit starting at 65 days after planting (S65). We evaluated the following variables: water use efficiency in producing achenes (EUA AQUÊNIOS ), achene oil content (TOA), potential oil productivity (PPO) and efficiency of water use in producing oil (EUA PPO ). Analysis of variance showed that TOA didn't suffer influence of the analyzed treatments (in terms of statistical inference), unlike the PPO, the EUA PPO, and the EUA AQUÊNIOS , which suffered influence of those treatments, at 5% probability by the F test. In the conditions in which the experiment was performed, heightening the water deficit caused a drop in potential oil productivity. The water use efficiency in producing oil and achenes increased when the culture was subjected to water deficit.
