Made in the Balkans, ready to Use at Home: Some Remarks on Neofolk Music in Slovenia

ResumoV članku je obravnavan sprejem neofolk glasbe v Sloveniji, posebej neo- in turbofolk glasbe, ki je v Slovenijo prišla iz drugih pojugoslovanskih držav. Po opredelitvi osrednjih pojmov so pregledane infrastruktura, s katero se razširja ta glasbeni slog, in posebej promocijske strategije, ki so usmerjene h glavnim ciljnim skupinam, t. i. »južnakom« in mladim etničnim Slovencem. V sklepu je analiziran sprejem teh glasbenih oblik v Sloveniji. *** This article deals with what is widely understood as neofolk music in Slovenia, especially with neofolk and turbofolk originating from other former Yugoslav countries. After defining several terms, the infrastructure for disseminating this musical style is examined, with special attention to strategies for penetrating two major target groups: “Southerners” and younger ethnic Slovenians. The article concludes by discussing the reception of these musical forms by audiences in Slovenia.
