ResumoAn article based on a paper presented at “Raume der Kunst: Goethes Sammlungen im Kontext” (Spaces of art: Goethe's collections in context), a conference held at the Furstenhaus in Weimar, Germany, in February 2003. The writer discusses Mannerist art in Goethe's collection. Goethe assembled one of the most amazing private collections of Mannerist graphic art, including drawings and prints, to be found in Germany in the first half of the 19th century. His collection featured Italian and Netherlandish Mannerist works, including works by Frans Floris, Hendrick Goltzius, and Abraham Bloemaert.
