Healthcare during COVID-19 Pandemic

Background and Objectives: Breast cancer is a disease caused by the abnormal proliferation of breast cells.An early diagnosis can be achieved through the performance of some tests, mainly clinical breast examination, mammography and breast self-examination.Health education is a tool that seeks to promote health care improvement, encouraging the participation of the population through conversation circles, meetings, debates and educational lectures.This study aims to disclose the educational actions in health care carried out in Basic Health Units (BHUs) in the municipality of Piripiri, state of Piauí, performed by the Educational Program through Health Care Work (PET-HEALTH).Methods: The activities took place weekly, being carried out with the Nursing and Physical therapy students, as well as preceptors, with the main objective of developing coping, prevention and rehabilitation actions in breast and cervical cancer.Among the actions taken were: active search for women that needed to undergo preventive examinations, educational lectures, conversation circles, leafleting in basic health units in the municipality of Piripiri-IP.Results: It was observed that most women were unaware of the factors that trigger breast cancer and the main forms of prevention, such as breast self-examination.Conclusion: Educational activities contributed to better care in women's health regarding the fight against breast cancer through an educational and assistance approach, by promoting the teaching-service-community integration.For students that belong to the program, the activities provide a communication link and gain of experience in which theoretical learning can be put into practice.
