Resumo

The paper discusses philosophical ground of Dositej Obradovic's work during the Enlightenment period and presents the influence it had onto the entire Serbian culture. Dositej Obradovic's spiritual development is considered within the five chronological steps, while the philosophic grounds of his work are discussed within the problem associations. Dositej's onthological, gnoseological, antropological and ethical views are given particular consideration and are often not explicit, but must be stated indirectly. By his achievements, Dositej's enlightenment period can be compared with the top European (primarily German) enlightenment of the 18th century. As such, it had a tremendous emancipating influence onto Serbian culture, although his views and pledges were often accepted hardly and slowly and his rationalism was greatly opposed to romanticism in Serbian culture and to Vuk Karadzic as its leader.
