Resumo

Once Were Warriors (Lee Tamahori, 1994) is a social problem film in realist style, set in the minority Maori community in a predominantly pakeha (non-Maori) country that deals with or touches on social issues of drug-usage, alcoholism, poverty, unemployment, welfare dependency, social class conflict, problematic subcultures, masculine insecurity and violence, violence in the family, youth. This makes the point, therefore, that all of the many problems raised are within the Maori community.
