This work has four parts: a brief history of the International System of Units (SI), a summary of the last proposals about new defi- nitions for the base units as considered in the 24th Meeting of the International Committee of Weights and Measures (that may be effective in the coming years), an analysis about what are the consequences of these changes, and a review of different comments about those proposals made by some authors.
