Resumo

It is generally known that Pierre Le Muet's Palladio and Roland Freart de Chambray's Parallele, were published abroad, in England as well as in the Northern Netherlands with great success. However these two dissimilar works, aimed at readerships that were different, although complimentary in more than one way, played a major role in the diffusion of Palladian forms in Europe. This feature has been largely underestimated. The lack of information concerning the adaptation of the work by Le Muet prevented the proper appreciation of the value of the versions it inspired.
