ResumoHorses harbour a large number of parasite species. The paper describes the prevalence ofhelminth species in horses from 10 localities of Timiș County, western Romania: Lovrin, Variaș,Fibiș, Pișchia, Dumbravița, Giulvaz, Gataia, Buziaș, Belinț and Faget. A total of 104 horses (15 foals,22 yearlings and 67 adults) were sampled in order to establish the parasite spectrum. Faecal sampleswere processed by McMaster technique. All horses (100%) were parasitized, and five types ofhelminthes were identified. Digestive strongyles were found in 85.57% of horses, roundworms(Parascaris equorum) in 28.84%, threadworms (Strongyloides westeri) in 9.61%, pinworms (Oxyurisequi) in 20.19%, and tapeworms (Anoplocephala spp.) in 19.23%, respectively. At least two helminthgenera were found in most of the individuals.
