ResumoA complete EXAFS analysis of the ZrO2Y2O3 system has been performed at both the yttrium and zirconium K absorption edges. The main result of this work is that the first average cation-oxygen distances are quite different and remain similar to those known for the pure oxides, namely, 2.16 Å for ZrO2 and 2.28 Å for Y2O3. The EXAFS spectra show qualitatively that the yttrium network is much more sensitive to the Y3+Zr4+ substitution than the zirconium one.
