Este artigo discute a importância do ensino de Geografia na contemporaneidade, tendo como metodologia de ensino o uso da literatura de cordel. Seu principal objetivo e analisar o uso da literatura de cordel como instrumento metodologico do ensino prazeroso de Geografia, no 8o e 9o ano de uma escola publica da cidade de Itororo, sul da Bahia. Para tanto, buscamos refletir sobre a funcao do planejamento e da pratica metodologica, como construcao de conhecimentos significativos em Geografia, tendo como foco as habilidades e competencias inerentes a essa disciplina. Como metodologia, fizemos revisao bibliografica sobre o tema, alem da analise de dois planos de aula de Geografia, envolvendo a literatura de cordel regional, como tambem a observacao da aplicacao desses planos no 8o e 9o anos da escola publica selecionada para essa pesquisa. Considerando que esse genero de linguagem esta historicamente enraizado em um espaco de profundas relacoes entre o homem e a natureza e, portanto, e fruto de um espaco vivido, seu uso pode conferir ao processo de ensino- aprendizagem de Geografia inumeras possibilidades de exploracao didatica, refletidas atraves da observacao direta do uso de cordel na sala de aula. Alem dessa reflexao, apresentamos um plano de aula de Geografia para o 9o ano, com a utilizacao de um cordel regional, como forma de uma contribuicao efetiva para o ensino mais prazeroso dessa disciplina. THE TEACHING OF GEOGRAPHY IN CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY: the use of cordel literature ABSTRACT This article discusses the importance of teaching geography in contemporary times, with the teaching methodology using the string literature. Its main objective is to analyze the use of string literature as a methodological instrument pleasurable teaching Geography in the 8th and 9th year of a public school in the city of Itororo, southern Bahia. To this end, we seek to reflect on the role of planning and methodological practice, as building significant knowledge in Geography, focusing on the skills and competencies inherent in this discipline. The methodology did literature review on the topic, as well as analysis of two geography lesson plans, involving the regional line of literature, as well as the observation of the implementation of these plans in 8th and 9th grades of public school selected for this research. Whereas this type of language is historically rooted in a space of deep relations between man and nature and therefore is the result of living space, their use can give the Geography teaching- learning process numerous possibilities of didactic exploration, reflected through direct observation of the use of string in the classroom. In addition to this reflection, we present a geography lesson plan for the 9th grade, with the use of a regional line, as a means of effective contribution to the teaching of this discipline more pleasurable.
