Sun ultraviolet radiation is increasing by the destruction of the ozone layer. The increase of solar ultraviolet radiation may be cause the skin damage. Especially middle wavelength ultraviolet radiation injures the skin. Beach umbrella is used on the beach to prevent the sun ultraviolet radiation in midsummer. Direct component of sun ultraviolet radiation was taken into consideration when the shade was designed. But, sky component of ultraviolet radiation is bigger than the sun direct component. So, ultraviolet radiation can't estimate precisely if the sky component isn't taken into consideration. In this research, the ultraviolet radiation under beach umbrella was calculated with sun direct component and sky component. Using calculation and measurement results, shade space and shade efficiency is obtained.
