Resumo

A new challenge facing educators is how to deal with the high-tech incivility that has crept onto our campuses. One problem concerns cyberbullies: individuals who exploit technology to control and intimidate others on campus. This article, which was published in the Dean's Symposium of the Toledo Law Review (2005) introduces the law-school community to the problem of cyberbullies and the risks associated with this form of bullying so that the problem can be acknowledged and addressed; describes common characteristics of bullies and cyberbullies, how bullying affects victims, and how bystanders fit into the equation; addresses bullies and cyberbullies on college and law-school campuses; and presents solutions law schools can adopt to reclaim our campuses and classrooms from high-tech tormentors.
