ResumoThis study explains the adoption of the General International Standard Archival Description – ISAD(G) – from a cultural as well as technical perspective. Using a manuscript archive in Korea as a case study, this paper explores how ISAD(G) is adopted in non-Western countries, what factors influence local practice and also which local socio-cultural elements have an important effect on the process. Through in-depth qualitative research, the author examines specifically how organizational culture shaped the adoption process by means of staff work identity, attitude and education, as well as communication patterns1 1. This article is a reworking of the Ph.D. dissertation that I submitted to the committee of Information Studies, UCLA, for my doctoral degree on 3 March 2011..
