Resumo

Santa Catarina is commonly affected by some type of oceanographic and meteorological phenomenon between these extreme: hail, floods, snow, sliding, flooding, floods, tornadoes, heat waves and storms. This study characterizes the strong heat wave that hit Santa Catarina between January and February 2014, under meteorological and oceanographic aspects, and their environmental effects. The value of 2 ° C above the climatological average for each region of the state was adopted. The result shows that the heat wave ranged from 17 to 28 consecutive days, and the temperature was between 32.3 and 40.0 ° C and influenced in different ways environmental state variables. Important to study this kind of phenomenon because it may help to better understand the climate of the southern region, especially the state of Santa Catarina.
