Resumo

The sensilla were studied in maxillary palp, antennae and proboscis of Culex (Barraudius), Culex (Culex) theileri, Anophelis annularis, Culex (Culex) elatic and Aedes (Stegomya) aegypti. grooved peg (gp), short blunt tip trichoid (Sbt), long short tip trichoids (Lst) and short sharp tip trichoids (Sst), prominent sensory pits(Sp), capitate peg (Cp) sensilla cheatica (Sch) were broader than Lst and small sensory receptors were thin hair like projections (sr) on antenna and maxillary palpi. their location and number were different in antenna, maxillary palpi and proboscis in these specis. Maxillary palpi were covered with uniformly set parallel lined scales from tip to basal region while antenna possesses less. Sr were abundant on both maxillary palp and antennae as well as some distance away from tip of proboscis. teeth margined proboscis was observed in Culex (Culex) theileri and Aedes (Stegomya) aegypti. the proboscis was structurally varied and have different sensilla with different location.
