Partindo do diagnostico de La Taille (2006) sobre a existencia de um mal-estar etico presente na sociedade contemporânea e evidenciado em uma pesquisa que este mesmo autor comandou no ano de 2005 entre jovens da capital paulista, realizamos, nos mesmos, uma investigacao semelhante junto a 85 professores e a 566 alunos do Ensino Medio da rede publica estadual da cidade de Mogi Mirim SP. O objetivo foi verificar se na nova realidade investigada encontrariamos o mesmo fenomeno social, sobretudo relacionado ao universo escolar. A representacao de professores e alunos sobre a Educacao e a escola atuais; as interacoes e os conflitos escolares; as influencias recebidas para a formacao da identidade; o olhar e as expectativas que ambos apresentam sobre o comportamento atual e o papel ideal do outro; eis alguns dos principais aspectos pesquisados: professores e alunos detem pontos de vista opostos em relacao a contextualizacao dos conteudos ensinados: os primeiros os avaliam como tendo grande relacao com o cotidiano dos alunos; estes, por sua vez, nao enxergam a mesma relacao e tacham o curriculo e a escola de obsoletos. Uns e outros estao de acordo sobre uma crise de valores na sociedade contemporânea, debaixo de cuja influencia enxergam muitos adversarios ao seu redor. Apesar dos inumeros conflitos, a maior parte dos quais resolvidos com animosidade, o que faz com o que o professor se sinta entre poucos amigos, os alunos continuam reconhecendo em seus mestres pessoas de grande importância para a sociedade e para o seu desenvolvimento pessoal. Quando perguntados sobre o que consideram as duas maiores necessidades da sociedade em que vivem, ambos dao o mesmo parecer: Educacao e Etica. Contudo, trata-se de uma voz, em geral, cumplice de um movimento crepuscular do dever cuja influencia repercute nos dominios escolares. THE TEACHER, THE STUDENT, THE SCHOOL AND CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY: A SURVEY WITH TEACHERS AND STUDENTS OF PUBLIC SCHOOLS OF CITY OF MOGI MIRIM-SP ABSTRACT Based on the diagnosis of La Taille (2006) on the existence of an ethical uneasiness in contemporary society and this evidenced in a study that led the same author in 2005 among young people in the capital city, we, ourselves, conducted a similar investigation along with 85 teachers and 566 high school students from public schools in the city of Mogi Mirim SP. The goal was to investigate if in this new reality we would find the same social phenomenon, especially in relation to school. The representation of teachers and students on education and school today; interactions and school conflicts, the influences received for the formation of identity, attitudes and expectations both present on the current behavior and the ideal role for each other; these were some of prominent aspects surveyed: teachers and students hold opposing views regarding the contextualization of the contents taught: The first evaluate them as having great relationship with the daily life of students but they, in turn, can not see the same relationship and regard both the curriculum and school as obsolete. A few agreed on a crisis of values present in contemporary society, and under its influence, see many opponents around them. Despite numerous conflicts, most of which resulted in animosity, which makes teachers feel they are not among friends, students continue to recognize that their professors are people of great importance for society and for their own personal development. When asked what they consider the two greatest needs of the society they live in, both give the same advice: Education and Ethics. Yet, it is one voice, in general, an accomplice of a merging movement of responsibility, which influences scholastics.
