ResumoInfluence of the Density in Physical-Mechanical Properties of Particleboards Abstract. This paper aimed at evaluating the effect of the board density on physical and mechanical properties of particleboards made from Eucalyptus grandis W. Hill ex Maiden. Three board densities were tested: 0.6, 0.7, and 0.8g/cm3. For each density level four boards were manufactured as follow: 8% urea-formaldehyde resin, 1% wax, 180oC hot-pressing for 8 minutes and 3.0 MPa. For each treatment, samples for the physical assays (density, moisture content, water absorption and thickness swelling) and mechanical assays (static bending, internal bonding and screw withdrawal) had been removed.
