Resumo

Influerice of treatment with Sesomum indicum leaves on the respiratory metabolism of Atta sedens rubrnpílosa Farei, 1908 (Hyrnenoptera: Formicidae) The respiratory nietabolisrn of Atta scxdens rubropilosa Farei, 1908 workers, rernoved from laboratory nests treated with Stsu- mum indicumieaves, was studied during 7 weeks.After twa weeks the anta froni treated nests showed higher respiratory rates ( 1 02 mg 1 hour) than contrai ones.It's possible that the rtest treatment with 5. indicum loaves provoked a physiologicai action in the leaf-cutting ants, simultaneously with the deleterious effects observed in the nests.
