Resumo

The article discusses the role of painter Philippe de Champaigne in the 1620-1660 interior decoration of the Carmelite convent church in rue Saint-Jacques in Paris, France. The author describes a c. 1630 painting by Champaigne depicting the Pentecost and compares it to paintings by Peter Paul Rubens, Jacob Bunel, and Nicolas Poussin. Also discussed is Chapaigne's Life of the Virgin cycle for the Carmelite church.
