Public Opinion about the Results of the Congress

ResumoA survey was conducted from June 11 through June 14 in 47 population centers, comprising 2,100 randomly selected urban and rural residents, representing, in the opinion of the sociologists, the adult population of the country. The sample included 18 republic, territorial, and regional centers (Vilnius, Gor'kii, Dnepropetrovsk, Dushanbe, Erevan, Kiev, Krasnoiarsk, Leningrad, L'vov, Magadan, Minsk, Moscow, Novosibirsk, Riga, Saratov, Tallinn, Tbilisi, and Frunze), 13 outlying cities (Abakan, Volzhkii, Gorodets in Gor'kii region, Gorodok in L'vov region, Klin, Kudymkar, Navoi, Nevinnomyssk, Nezhin, Novomoskovsk in the Dnepropetrovsk region, Novopolotsk, Nurek, and Khromtau), and 16 villages (in the Armenian, Georgian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Moldavian, and Estonian SSRs, the Stavropol district, and the Alma-Ata, Bukhara, Gor'kii, Dnepropetrovsk, Kiev, Leningrad, Magadan and Moscow, and Perm regions). The sociologists found that almost 93 percent of the respondents were familiar with the proceedings of the Congress to one extent or other.
