ResumoOdontoma is the most common type of odontogenic tumor, being defined as a benign malformation. Considered to be hamartomas, odontomas are composed of various dental tissues such as enamel, dentin, cementum, and pulp. They are classified as complex or compound on the basis of their radiographic features and histomorphology. They are usually small and asymptomatic. In rare cases, a large complex odontoma can develop and cause major clinical signs. A 13-year-old White patient presented with a large odontoma in the posterior maxilla. The clinical examination revealed a swelling, firm to palpation, on the right side of the face and right maxillary ridge. Panoramic radiography showed an oval radiopaque area near the orbital floor and nasal cavity, involving the entire maxillary sinus on the right side. The tumor was removed by excisional biopsy. Histopathological findings confirmed the diagnosis of complex odontoma.
