This article analyses “The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA)” and compares it to the previous experiences of Latin American integration. The pronouncements in the official ALBA documents are examined as are some of projects that the block has carried out. The conclusion is reached that ALBA breaks with the traditional pattern of regional integration in Latin America.
