ResumoStudy on weed dynamics in mustard under rainfed and irrigated situation was done during winter seasons of 1996–97 and 1997–98 at Varanasi. The crop was subjected to higher weed intensity during the second season due to receipt of above normal rainfall. The crop was infested by 122 and 194 weeds/m2 under rainfed situation and 229 and 334/m2 under irrigated situtation during the 1st and the 2nd season, respectively. The weed species viz., Chenopodium album L., Celsia coromandeliana Vahl, Anagallis arvensis L. and Cynodon dactylon Pers. were problematic under rainfed situation. Cyperus rotundus L. and Parthenium hysterophorus L. were problematic under irrigated situation. Problem of Phalaris minor Retz. and Rumex dentatus L. was noticed in irrigated mustard in the second season only.
