Resumo

In a study on the diversity of family-Culicidae, a total of 22 preferred mosquito sites were selected from Amravati city. 71 mosquitoes were collected from these sites, out of that 16 species of mosquitoes were identified. Culex was more prevalent than Aedes and Anopheles. Total 9 species of Culex were found. Culex subgenera were in the following order – Culex (Culex) > Culex (Neoculex) > Culex (Barraudius). on the basis of keys following species are reported – Culex (Culex) simpsoni; Culex (Culex) duttoni; Culex (Culex) theileri; Culex (Barraudius) modestus; Culex (Neoculex) martinii; Culex (Neoculex) territans; Culex (Neoculex) impudicus; Culex (Culex) decens; Culex (Culex); Culex male; Aedes (Stegomyia) aegypti; Aedes (Diceromyia) taylori; Aedes (Diceromyia) furcifer; Aedes male, Anopheles annularis; Anopheles male.
