Introduction: Fine-Needle aspiration (FNA) it's a simple, easy and cheap method for evaluation of thyroid nodule nature, which resulted in eliminating the need of numerous thyroid surgery, making a citologic diagnostic. Objective: To know if the presence of the citopathologyst have influence on the FNA diminishing the number of inadequate bi- opsies and therapeutic decision. Patients and methods: We take 151 FNA in patients with thyroid nodule. Two groups were performed, group 1: Without citopathologyst and group 2: With citopathologyst. Results: Group I: 75 patients (88% female), the average age were 45.3 years. 17 biopsies were inadequate. 77.3% of the FNA with be- nign disease diagnostic at first; 56.9% were correct diagnostic. In cancer, the FNA detected 63.6% of the cases. The average time of the diagnostic were 14 days. Group II: 76 patients (84.2% female), the average age were 41.9 years. 7 biopsies were inadequate. 90.8% of the FNA with initial benign disease diagnostic; 68.1% were correct diagnos- tic. In cancer, 55.5% of the cases were detected. The average time of the diagnostic were 3 days. Conclusions: The evaluation of the material by the citopathologyst at time of FNA cause a minor inadequate biopsy diagnoses and making a better therapeutic decision.
