ResumoThe level scheme of even-even $^{134}\mathrm{Ba}$ has been studied from the decay of the $^{134}\mathrm{Ce}$ (75.9 h)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}$^{134}\mathrm{La}$ (6.67 min) chain. Samples of $^{134}\mathrm{Ce}$ were produced by \ensuremath{\sim}800-MeV proton bombardment of Pr foils, followed by chemical and mass separation. $\ensuremath{\gamma}$-ray energy and intensity measurements were made using Ge(Li) and Si(Li) detectors. Identification of $\ensuremath{\gamma}$ rays as belonging to the $^{134}\mathrm{La}$ decay was made in separate experiments using sources of $^{134}\mathrm{La}$ milked from the parent $^{134}\mathrm{Ce}$ activity. In this manner, \ensuremath{\sim}99$\ensuremath{\gamma}$-ray transitions have been associated with the $^{134}\mathrm{La}$ decay scheme. From these data and $\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{-}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ coincidence measurements, a comprehensive level scheme is proposed for $^{134}\mathrm{Ba}$, consisting of \ensuremath{\sim}41 excited states. Further information on the energies of levels in $^{134}\mathrm{Ba}$ was derived from a subsidiary series of $\ensuremath{\gamma}$-ray energy measurements using a source of $^{134}\mathrm{Cs}$. For the $^{134}\mathrm{La}$ decay, $log\mathrm{ft}$ values were obtained from relative x-ray, annihilation-quanta, and $\ensuremath{\gamma}$-ray intensities and using intensity-balance considerations for the individual levels in $^{134}\mathrm{Ba}$. A comparison is made of the $^{134}\mathrm{Ba}$ data with the predictions of several recent theoretical calculations dealing with even-even nuclei in this mass region.RADIOACTIVITY $^{134}\mathrm{La}$ from $\mathrm{Pr}[(p, \mathrm{spallation})]$; measured ${E}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}}$, ${I}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}}$, $\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{-}\ensuremath{\gamma}$; $^{134}\mathrm{Cs}$ deduced levels, $J$, $\ensuremath{\pi}$, $log\mathrm{ft}$. Ge(Li) and Si(Li) detectors, chemical separation, isotope separations. $^{134}\mathrm{Cs}$; measured ${E}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}}$.
