Resumo

Recent work on the virtual reconstruction of a Roman town is presented, in the context of issues like conserving, presenting and communicating that cultural heritage to the general public. Re-constructions are developed using manual and procedural techniques, with the support of efficient and low-cost tools, using the internet for collaborative and dissemination purposes. This paper also intends to discuss general issues of the extent of scientific knowledge and the authenticity of communicated products.
