ResumoThis paper presents the results of a lithogeochemical study on the dolerites that cropout within the so-called Colatina Lineament in the State of Espirito Santo, Brazil. Previous work have shown that these dolerites may be associated with the geodynamic processes related with the Gondwana break-up in Lower Cretaceous times. The lithogeochemical data obtained for the Colatina dolerites allow their classification as basalts and andesitic basalts that comprise a low-TiO 2 suite witin a subalkaline tholeiitic series. The evolutive process was fractional crystallization without concomitant crustal assimilation. Trace element data for the parental composition indicate that these dolerites are related to mantle sources involving at least a contribution of the subcontinental lithospheric mantle.
