ResumoThis article examines the three diplomatic accords made between Abraham and Avimelech, the King of the Philistines for the purpose of deriving insights that might be useful in the current climate. Among the diplomatic tools employed by Abraham is a form of economic statecraft, economic compensation which might be adapted for use today. The article also examines the treaty over title of the wells and land rights, reminding us that at least portions of what is now considered by some to be "occupied" territory today -- was purchased in a legally recognized fashion in the past, (including during the preceding the British Mandate) and that the call to return of these lands cannot be sustained from a legal standpoint.
