This article analyzes the writing of Georg F. Vicedom about, “The mission of the world religions.” It situates the text in its epoch and extracts from it elements for a theology of Christian mission in dialog with other religions. The author emphasizes that it is to Vicedom’s merit that he raised the question about the function of the thesis o f the equality of the religions, and showed that it can be based on different interests and that it must not be reduced to only one function. For Vicedom, the gospel is the criterion to critically measure Christianity itself.
