Resumo

A case of mandibular prognathism was treated by the one-stage extraoral method. A problem of fixation was encountered due to the patient's having an edentulous maxilla. For economic reasons, it was necessary that she return to work as soon as possible. It is recommended that this operation be performed only on carefully selected patients, in well-equipped hospitals, and with ancillary aids.
