Testicular biopsy of white-eyed parakeet (Aratinga leucophthalma Muller, 1776) after sexing test by PCR The access to testicular tissue for studies of morphophysiology in birds can be accomplished through the euthanasia of the animals or by incisional testicular biopsy. Incisional testicular biopsy makes animal sacrifice unnecessary and is a procedure that preserves the reproductive capacity and allows to establish parameters of great importance for the reproduction and also to diagnose changes in sperm production, such as oligospermia or azoospermia. However in monomorphic birds, these studies present the extra difficulty of pre-surgical sex differentiation.
