ResumoIn the present study we made a preliminary ecological analysis of the bat assemblages from three conservation units in Rio de Janeiro state, southeastern Brazil: Reserva Biologica Poco das Antas, Fazenda Rio Vermelho and Reserva Biologica Uniao. Two samples of bats were taken from each area, one during the rainy season, and the other during the dry season. We described assemblages by species lists, richness, evenness, abundance distribution, and rarefaction curves. In all areas, Carollia perspicillata was the most frequent bat species, presenting a relative abundance far superior from others. Rio Vermelho was the richest area, followed by Uniao and Poco das Antas. Differences in spatial heterogeneity of the areas might explain differences found in diversity patterns.
