ResumoThe consumption of drugs by children, adolescents and adults stands out in the political and social spheres. This social and political problem forms pathology and deserves the attention of professionals from a variety of fields for the necessity of an interstice between the work fronts in the prevention, rehabilitation and health promotion with people dependent on psychoactive drugs. Through bibliographic research, it is identified how music and religion - and their meanings to human existence and culture - are linked to the becoming, evolution and development of humanity. Presented reflections relate music to religion, pointing out perspectives regarding music therapeutic interventions, being music and religion important tools for not only the rehabilitation process, but also the prevention from the psychoactive drug abuse. The conclusion is that the human being uses drugs, religion and art to go beyond what is known - the world itself. In order to transcend by means of drugs, religion and music is inherent to the human being. Since music and religion are idiosyncratic elements to humans, their union can offer and formulate, in the therapeutic ambit, a perspective of life and personal (re)construction (becoming) never reached before by the people in rehabilitation for drug abuse.
