ResumoSUMMARY Animal toxicovigilance in France : about the mortality cases of pigeons with furathiocarb. By F. LELIEVRE, P. BERNY, F. BURONFOSSE, X. PINEAU, A. FREJAT and F. LAMARQUE. Toxicovigilance is a fairly new concept in medicine as well as in veterinary medicine. The French structures of animal toxicovigilance are presented here and described with a field example of major mortality outbreak in wild pigeons associated with poisoning with seeds coated with furathiocarb. This crisis helped defining the major risk factors (climate, agricultural practice, illicit use) and preventive measures to be implemented (training, information, color of seed coating).
