ResumoThe objective was the taxonomy classification and botanical descriptions of 36 species (23 families and 33 genera), trees, shrubs, vines and herbs existing in the Universidad Nacional de Ucayali Botanical Garden and Campus. From the 36 species, 6 are ornamental: Sanchezia tigrina, Crinum augustum, Sansevieria trifasciata, Dracaena fragans, Costus guanaiensis and Vitex cymosa; Rhynchosia phaseoloides which seeds are highly valued as handmade products, 7 will have a future ornamental use: Tabernaemontana heteropylla, Sparattosperma leucanthum, Cayaponia ophthalmica, Gurania eriantha, Gurania spinulosa, Stigmaphyllon florosum y Capirona decorticans; 3 are medicinal: Euphorbia umbellata (cancer treatment and other illnesses), Uncaria guianensis (strengthen immunologic system) and the Pilocarpus peruvianus contains Pilocarpina used as ophthalmic; Pourouma guianensis also has a strong menthol smell; 3 with edible fruits Tamarindus indica, Bunchosia armeniaca and Physalis angulata, the last contains a high content of A vitamin, 10 are timber: Dipteryx odorata, Vitex cymosa, Tectona grandis, Ocotea bofo, Perebea xanthochyma, Virola pavonis, Calycophyllum spruceanum, Capirona decorticans, Guazuma ulmifolia and Bambusa arundinacea; Pueraria phaseoloides used as forage, in the Botanical Garden it is similar to weeds like the Davilla nítida y Urena lobata, which will serve as ornamental, its bark has similar properties to the true jute; Cecropia membranácea, C. concolor, C. sciadophylla y Gouania lupuloides which can serve as food for wildlife.
