ResumoThis study was carried out at the Experimental Area of the Soil Science Department, in a Typic Hapludalf (Red-Yellow Podzolic) under black oat + vetch/corn production system. The objectives were to: (a) measure spatial variation of A horizon thickness, clay content, corn plants height and corn yield; (b) measure relations among A horizon thickness, clay content, corn plant height and corn yield and (c) map A horizon thickness and clay content of the experimental area. Spatial variability of studied properties was determined. For each decrease of one centimeter of A horizon, due to soil formation and/or soil erosion, there was a corresponding equivalent reduction of 42.9 kg ha -1 per year in corn yield.
