ResumoNew additions to the bat list of the municipality of Linhares, state of Espirito Santo, southeastern Brazil (Mammalia, Chiroptera). The municipality of Linhares, in the north of the state of Espirito Santo, harbors part of one of the largest forest blocks remaining in the Atlantic Forest. Notwithstanding, the chiropteran fauna of this region is still relatively little known. Recent research in the Reserva Natural Vale, which accounts for half of the forests within this block, resulted in noteworthy records that are reported here, increasing the bat list for the municipality of Linhares in 11 species and that for the state of Espirito Santo in three. Two species reported here, Tonatia saurophila and Saccopteryx bilineata, deserve particular attention because they have rarely been reported in the Atlantic Forest of Southeastern Brazil and may reach the southern limit of their distribution in this region. The bat list for the state of Espirito Santo now includes 70 species, 70% of which occur at the Reserva Natural Vale. This natural protected area can presently be recognized as the richest site for Chiroptera along all of the Atlantic Forest – 50 species.
